by Vivienne Hillyer.
Hardback. 258 pages.
‘Ted Hillyer, Painter’ includes over 250 colour reproductions of selected paintings, pastels and drawings, spanning Hillyer’s 60 plus years of creative output.
The biography traces Ted’s childhood in the western suburbs of Sydney, his artistic beginnings at the National Art School in Darlinghurst in the 1950s, when abstraction was the dominant genre in Sydney, to life on the mid north coast of NSW where he and his wife Kathy moved in the early 1960s, wanting to raise their children and live their lives closer to Nature. Music, key artistic influences, and significant friendships over his lifetime, are discussed.
The book includes literary contributions from Ted’s close friends Robert Gray, Ross Macleay and John Waters.
Written, designed and produced by Vivienne Hillyer, Ted’s youngest daughter.
